Hi guys,

My first post here, name is Terry, in St.John's, Newfoundland.
I feel as if i know a lot of you guys already, as i think i have read just about every post here in the last 3 years.
Just bought a 2014 14r in green and black, getting delivered to me on dec 24th mid afternoon, the bike is coming in an enclosed trailer 700 miles to my door.
I am 54 with bad arthritis in my neck and back, so first mod will most likely be risers or LSL bars for comfort.
Just hope i made the right decision !
I had the dealer install a center stand, got a good price installed.
My last bike was a VFR 1000 which i sold 28 yrs ago so i got a lot to get use to....i know that !
Going to try the plasti dip on the wind screen as CBLAST did to save a few bucks.
I will attempt to post up some pics over the holidays as i know ye all love pics.

Welcome ! great Christmas present ! could you see if the bike comes out of the crate with
oil in it ? solve some disputes ! haha ! if you have really bad arthritis etc ...
You may want to choose the LSL over some of the other risers, the other ones won't help
that much, also maybe a throttlemeister throttle lock ? it will cut down on vibration
because it is a "heavy version" for the 14, better than the Kaoko in my opinion, I had
a throttlemeister on the old Busa, but tried the Kaoko on the 14, I like the throttlemeister
better ....

As far as making the right choice, YES YOU DID Hahaha ! enjoy !

I am using 1" gen mar risers on mine plus a pair of Buel foot pegs, the black wide ones. That combo does make a difference. I also use a throttle meister. Don't use it around here much but it comes in handy on trips across the desert where I may do a 5 or 6 hundred mile day.

Hi KingY2,
I'm 57 years old and my 14R is the first bike I've owned since 1986 which was a 82 Honda CB750. I don't have risers on my bike but I usually only ride for short periods. At times, I wish the handlebars were a little higher, but when you push it hard, the factory handlebar height is perfect. I do feel like the bike is rough on my neck from the g-force of a hard power-run, but besides that, it's just pure unadulterated fun!!!!!!

Thanks for the welcome guys and the comments on risers and LSL bars !
I am guessing i have to find a sweet spot as to how much bar rise i will need to keep strain off my back and neck.
I dont anticipate to many rides longer than 2 hours, but if i am comfortable i would love to go longer periods of time. Might do foot peg drop as well.....right now i just want to get comfortable as possible.
Any comments on the grip puppies ? Thinking of ordering those as well.

Carabuser i will try to remember to ask that question when the bike arrives...the guy i bought if from is the same guy delivering it to me.

I think you can only pull off a 1 inch riser without major modifications and the gen mars also pull the controls in a fraction closer. I am 5 foot 10 195 pounds and the bike fits me well. I will be 71 in february.

I used to work in the shop at a Kawi dealership 10 years ago, not once did I ever have to put a drop of oil in any machine I setup.

Congratulations on your new ride!!! Hope you enjoy every mile!!!

I'm 63 and on my 3rd ZX, have loved each one of them. At 6'2" I have Genmar risers and Buell pegs on my bike for more comfort. This winter I'm installing a set of Woodcraft bars with 2 1/2" risers, getting a little harder to bend these days.

Kingy, I use the Grip Puppies and love them. They make the wear on the hands much better than with the stock grips.

You know...the healing virtue of this bike is real. When my lower back begins to ache from standing all day...I can go out on my Ninja...within a minute...that's completely gone. And stays that way for several days.
